Made in Japan

Made in Japan is not a company but rather a mark designating all ceramics produced in "Occupied Japan" (1947-1952) and or Post War Japan through the 1970s. These items were made for export. Most pieces with the Occupied Japan mark were inexpensive novelties for dime stores. Some were copies of popular European ceramic pieces. Piece made in Japan are now sought after by collectors. Some companies producing "Made in Japan" include Lefton, Enesco, Hold Howard, Napco, Napcoware, Royal Sealy Japan.
