Leeds China of Chicago, Illinois was the first to produce a Mickey Mouse cookie jar. Referred to as the "turnabout" (because you could turn it front to back to display either Mickey or Minnie), Leeds had a license to sell Disney Merchandise from 1944-1954. Leeds did not manufacture the pieces however, they were just a distributor. They were made by other companies such as Celadon Company of New Lexington, Ohio and American Bisque. These pieces are highly collectible and rare.
